When a PDF carries an actual form — the kind a government department or an HR team exports from Word or Acrobat — foolio reads its fields and lays a proper input over each one. Text boxes accept text, checkboxes tick, dropdowns open, and radio groups behave like radio groups. You aren’t nudging a floating text box into position and hoping it lands inside the line.
A scan of a form still works
Plenty of “forms” are just a picture of a form — a scan, a photo, or a PDF someone printed and re-exported with no fields left in it. There is nothing to detect, so nothing appears. Add text anywhere on the page instead, drag it into place, and size it to match the ruled line. The result prints identically; only the route there is different.

Frequently asked questions
Is my form uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is read from your device and filled entirely inside this browser tab — nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged. That matters more here than almost anywhere else, because a filled form usually holds your address, your bank details, or your signature.
The form has no boxes to type in. What now?
Then it isn’t a real form — it’s a flat page, usually a scan or something printed and re-exported, with no fields left inside it. Nothing can detect fields that aren’t there, so instead add text anywhere on the page and drag it onto the line. It prints and reads exactly the same.
Can the person I send it to change my answers?
No. When you download, your answers are written into the page and the fields are flattened away, so the file is a finished document rather than a live form. Nobody can retype an answer, and it can’t be cleared by opening it in a different PDF reader.
Can I sign the form as well as fill it in?
Yes. Draw or upload a signature and drop it wherever the form asks for one, in the same tab, before you download. If someone else has to sign, you can send them their own private link instead.
Can I save a half-finished form and come back to it?
Yes. Your document stays in this browser between visits, so you can close the tab and pick the form back up on the same device. It’s stored locally, not in an account, which is also why it won’t follow you to a different computer.
Does it cost anything or add a watermark?
No. Filling is free with no account and no watermark stamped across the page — which would defeat the point of a form you have to hand to someone.
About filling out PDF forms
The PDF form is the last stop for paperwork that refuses to become a web page: tax and visa forms, rental applications, medical intake, school permission slips, insurance claims. They arrive as a file, they expect to leave as a file, and the usual advice — print it, fill it by hand, scan it back — turns a five-minute task into an errand that needs a printer. The alternative most people reach for is uploading the form to a free website, which is precisely the wrong instinct for a page carrying a passport number.
